Meet the Artist: Art, Memories & Trying Something New
Hi, I’m Patricia, and I’m an artist, storyteller, and someone who still gets excited about trying something new.
I’ve been creating art since 2012, studying at Henry Ford Community College and Wayne State University, and developing a style that I like to describe as abstract realism.
But for me, art has never just been about putting paint on a canvas. It’s about memories, feelings, places, people, food, and those little moments that stay with us long after they’re gone.
Lately, I’ve been exploring a new chapter in my creativity.
You’ll find me painting, cooking, remembering old Detroit moments, trying new recipes, experimenting with creative projects, and occasionally getting my hands on something completely new just to see what I can do with it.
That’s where this blog comes in.
Sometimes I’ll share a new art project. Sometimes I’ll talk about something I’m cooking. Sometimes I’ll test a product I found and show you what I actually think about it. And sometimes I’ll take something completely ordinary and turn it into an idea I didn’t expect.
I’m not here to pretend I have everything figured out.
I’m here to try, create, experiment, and share the journey.
Because that’s how I approach almost everything:
Let’s see what we can make out of this.
My art is also moving into an exciting new chapter. After returning to oil painting and creating work inspired by memories and nostalgia, one of my paintings, Mobile Pool, found an amazing response.
Now I’m taking that momentum with me into new paintings, new stories, and new opportunities—including being accepted into ArtPrize in Grand Rapids.
So if you’re here, WELCOME.
You’re going to see the paintings, the messes, the experiments, the memories, the food, the successes, and probably a few things that don’t work exactly the way I planned.
And honestly?
Those are usually the most interesting parts.
Come create, experiment, remember, and have a little fun with me.
